The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised concerns about the possible arrest and abduction of over twenty-five of its members by security forces allegedly deployed from Abuja.

According to Daily Post, Sunday Bisi, the chairman of the Osun PDP, claimed that these members, including four special advisers, fifteen state officials, and five party leaders, are purportedly targeted for arrest without proper warrants.

He revealed that the plan to apprehend these individuals was divulged by some members of the APC in Osun, who claimed they would utilize federal authority to target government officials and PDP leaders.

He called upon the Police Service Commission and the Department of State Services to refrain from political bias and not become tools for vendettas by those aggrieved over election outcomes.

Furthermore, he urged, “I want to call on President Bola Tinubu to caution members of his party in Osun because we will not allow our members to be harassed or victimized in the state. We seek Mr. President’s immediate intervention.”

In response, Tajudeen Lawal, the APC chairman in the state, dismissed the allegations as unfounded and aimed at deflecting attention from questions about contract procurement under the Adeleke administration.

He accused the Osun PDP of trying to obfuscate issues surrounding the recent awarding of over N50 billion in road contracts to unqualified companies and party affiliates lacking the necessary expertise.

He asserted that the PDP's attempts to garner sympathy were futile, as informed citizens were keen on scrutinizing the contract process, especially regarding contracts allegedly awarded to the serving Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly.

The rift between the two parties intensified when the APC accused Governor Adeleke of favoring cronies and family members with contracts, a claim vehemently denied by the PDP, which defended Adeleke against the allegations.
