Osun Deputy Speaker Harps on Cultural and Economic Value of Ìsèse Day.

The Deputy Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abidemi Oyewusi today extolled the significance and economic value of Ìsèse Day being observed throughout the culturally rich Yoruba regions of Nigeria.

Oyewusi in a chat with journalists which was made available to the media congratulated the people of Osun and the South West region on their recent efforts at looking inwards for the various diverse cultural values of the forefathers of the Yoruba people of the South West.

According to him, "Ìsèse Day is a significant occasion that allows us to honor and celebrate the rich tapestry of our indigenous culture. This day serves as a reminder of the values, traditions, and wisdom passed down through generations, which have played a vital role in shaping our society." 

Indigenous culture is the bedrock of our identity, influencing our beliefs, language, art, and way of life. It teaches us the importance of community, respect for nature, and the value of wisdom from our elders. 

As we celebrate Ìsèse Day, let us appreciate the enduring relevance of our heritage, ensuring that it continues to guide and inspire future generations.

Oyewusi however cautioned against the wrong notion by some ignorant people who are mistaking Ìsèse Day with religion, adding that religion is not synonymous with Ìsèse Day celebration." He therefore urged our people to read more about the culture, dress mode, food and other stuff being practised by our forefathers who have the same Ìsèse Day ideology with their diverse traditional religion alongside it without friction."
