APC Osun in Disarray as Appeal Court Affirms Illegality of 2022 Council Polls: Says Judgment Didn't Reinstate them.

Osogbo, June 13, 2025.

Apesin Abiodun Adegoke, PDP Chieftain and Social Commentator, has congratulated Elected Chairmen and Councilors Under Governor Adeleke's Administration

It was a jubilation galore across the 30 local government areas of Osun State, including the Area Office in Modakeke, as the Court of Appeal delivered a landmark judgment in the case of APP vs APC, effectively ending the controversy surrounding the purported reinstatement of sacked local government chairmen.

The Appellate court, in a unanimous decision by a three-member panel led by Hon. Justice Obiora dismissed the appeal filed by the APC for lack of merit. The Court also condemned the gross misrepresentation of its earlier February 10, 2025 ruling, making it clear that "at no point did the court reinstate the sacked APC chairmen." The Justices warned against politicizing the judiciary or distorting judicial pronouncements for political advantage, affirming that “the judiciary must never be treated as an extension of any political organization.”

In reaction to the judgment, Apesin Abiodun Adegoke, a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and an influential social commentator, extended heartfelt congratulations to the democratically elected local government chairmen and councilors under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke.

“This verdict is not just a win for the PDP, but a victory for democracy and the resilient people of Osun State,” Apesin stated. “The rule of law has prevailed, and justice has once again reaffirmed the legitimacy of those chosen by the people.”

Insiders within the APC have begun to acknowledge the finality of the ruling. A prominent APC chieftain, speaking under anonymity, expressed frustration at the party's leadership for disregarding electoral laws by conducting an election that contravened the statutory 360-day window. “I warned them — this illegality wouldn't stand. Even President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would not support such recklessness,” he lamented.

In a striking parallel, President Tinubu's recent Democracy Day remarks urging the opposition to uphold the rule of law now mirror the reality facing Osun APC. With its ranks now thrown into confusion and its narrative unraveling, some party loyalists continue to push disinformation online. However, the coming release of the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgment is expected to permanently silence any lingering doubts.

Apesin concluded by urging the people of Osun to remain steadfast in their support for Governor Adeleke. “This administration has delivered beyond expectation, and the people are witnesses. The days ahead hold even greater promise.”

Congratulations to the good people of Osun State for their unwavering faith in democracy and their continued support for the good governance from Governor Adeleke.
