Osun Government Takes Proactive Steps to Prevent Floods - Comm. for Environment and Sanitation.

Osogbo, July 22, 2025.
Osun State Government through the Ministry of Environment and Sanitation is actively implementing flood control measures by dredging waterways and canals as well as clearing debris across the state.
Commissioner for environment and sanitation, Hon Mayowa Adejoorin stated this when he featured as guest on Imole Ayo, a sensitization programme which promotes the activities of Governor Ademola Adeleke's administration on Osun State Broadcasting Corporation OSBC
The weekly Programme is put in place by the office of the spokesperson to the Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed to showcase the outstanding achievements of the present administration in Osun State
The commissioner for environment and sanitation added that his ministry is also educating residents on responsible waste disposal and enforcing sanitation policies especially in urban centres
Hon Adejoorin noted that due to the state government's commitment to flood control, no single case of flooding was recorded in Osun throughout last year while many states were negatively affected by floods
He pointed out that, the Nigeria Meteorological Agency NIMET specifically commended the proactive steps taken by Governor Ademola Adeleke's administration to prevent floods across Osun State, last year
The commissioner for Environment and sanitation also cautioned the people of the state to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse warning that anyone caught will face the wrath of the law
While advising house owners whose property are blocking water ways to remove those structures with a view to allowing free flow of water in flood prone areas, the commissioner warned that, henceforth, the government will not hesitate to remove any house built illegally on water ways
Hon Mayowa Adejoorin urged the residents and indigenes of Osun State to continue supporting Governor Ademola Adeleke for him to take the state of the living spring to the promised land.
