Osun PDP Chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi, Engages Veteran Journalists, Speaks on LG Crisis, Adeleke's Performance, and 2026 Polls

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Hon Sunday Bisi, has expressed strong confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to democracy and the rule of law, urging him to ensure the enforcement of the recent Court of Appeal judgement affirming the February 22, 2025, local government elections in the state.

Hon Bisi made the call during a media chat with the League of Veteran Journalists (LVJ) in Osogbo, The League is led by respected media Elder, Mr Smallet Adetoyese Shitu Àlàmú. The President intervention becomes necessary, as according to him, some desperate elements are hell bent on denting democratic credentials of the President against the backdrop of a clear judgement of the court of appeal.

In his remarks on several questions posed to him, the PDP Chairman revisited what he described as the “orchestrated crisis” in the local government system triggered by former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, who, according to him, “hurriedly conducted a kangaroo local government election in flagrant violation of electoral law” after the electorate had already overwhelmingly rejected his administration at the July 16, 2022 guber polls.

He stated that the present PDP-led government, under Governor Ademola Adeleke, had duly informed all appropriate authorities about the legal status of the matter and now expects the Federal Government to respect the appellate court's decision, which unequivocally affirms the legitimacy of the elected PDP Chairmen and Councillors.

Hon Bisi expressed concern over what he described as discriminatory treatment against Osun, noting that no local government in the country currently receives direct allocation from the federal purse, asserting that local government administration remains under the supervisory authority of the State House of Assembly, as enshrined in the constitution.

Highlighting the achievements of the Adeleke administration, Hon Bisi noted that the PDP government has not borrowed a single kobo since taking office, yet has managed to complete several abandoned projects left by the previous APC administration, while also initiating fresh ones

The occasion which had in attendance, the State Hon Commissioner for Political and Inter-Governmental affairs, Hon Biyi Odunlade, was chaired by former Osun State Commissioner for Finance and a PDP stalwart in Osogbo, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo, the Oluomo of Osogbo Land.

The former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP commended the Veterans for living true to the egalitarian vision of Osun founding fathers, where development of the state would always be paramount to all and sundry.
